Performance Improvement of H8 Transformerless Grid-Tied Inverter Using Model Predictive Control Considering a Weak Grid

There is increasing utilization of photovoltaic (PV) grid-connected systems in modern power networks. Currently, PV utilize transformerless inverters that have the advantages being low cost, weight, a small size, and highly efficient. Unfortunately, these an earth leakage current problem due to absence galvanic isolation. This phenomenon represents safety electrical problems for those systems. Recently, H8 inverter was introduced eliminate current. The present study proposes improving performance using model predictive control (MPC). supplied by energy attached grid through LCL filter. During system modeling, weakness identified. discrete overall system, including panel, boost converter, inverter, controllers, derived. Then, simulated analyzed Matlab/Simulink program. proposed response MPC tested under step disturbances insolation level. Moreover, effect weak strong operations considered. simulation results indicate controller has better high-quality injected power. Despite excellent grid, nearly acceptable. Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) implemented DSP target LaunchPadXLTMS320F28379D kit validate results. Finally, parameter variations showed good robustness.
